Hi, I’m Michael. I’m a solo traveler and college student based in Washington, DC. I travel to understand how culture, religion, and power structures shape the world—not just to see places or take photos beside monuments, but to grasp what truly defines them. For me, travel is educational, experiential, and meant to challenge me, not sitting on a beach drinking a margarita (though I don’t mind a nice relaxing day in the mountains!).
I’m drawn to places that feel authentic and complex. I’m less interested in resorts and more interested in how people actually live, what they believe, and how history continues to shape the present.
This site is a record of what I learn along the way—clear observations, grounded insights, and reflections on the forces behind the places I visit. No sugarcoating, no curated fantasy—just honest perspective.
Traveling alone gives me freedom, but it also demands awareness. It forces me to think on my feet, face discomfort, and engage with the unfamiliar. That discomfort is often where the most meaningful learning happens.
